In Full Bloom and It’s About Time!

It’s about time….for growing.

Spring has busted out all over. It’s warm. We knew that Spring had to come….eventually. Now that it is here, God’s marvelous creation is in display, full bloom. There are seasons in the church year as well, variations in what we emphasize and experience. Lent was a time of solemnity and reflection. Easter is a time of resurrection-centered joy. In worship during the season of Easter, we’ve been discussing growing in grace. With the new life emerging in spring, the aim is that our spiritual lives follow the same pattern: the right conditions lead to blossoming and bearing fruit.  This month

It’s about time….for sharing.

On May 12th, we are going to talk about sharing. Part of spiritual growth is sharing. We are not going to talk about sharing our money or our things, as important as that is. Instead we are going to talk about sharing our time.

Much has been said about time. Time is precious. Time is money. Time is of the essence. Time is on our side. Time is cruel. Time can be wasted, and time can be stolen. But in time, good things happen. It takes time for a seed to become a full-grown tree. A bank account with compound interest will grow with time.  It takes time for a person to grow in grace. It takes time for things to happen in church, time generously shared by members of the community. In this way of thinking, time is grace. So on May 12th at both services, we are going to consider the gift of sharing time. This is a stewardship issue.

We will be asking worshipers on Sunday, May 12th to consider how time works in their lives, and what time has to do with God and Amazing Grace.

It’s about time….for celebrating.

May 19th  is Pentecost Sunday, where we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit being given to the church. Without the Holy Spirit, there could be no growing in grace. The Holy Spirit is who shapes the church today, God in the now! On this Sunday we will finish the Growing in Grace series, and you are invited to bring the plant you’ve been growing with the seeds and the soil you took in April.

Our Semi-annual meeting will also take place on this Sunday, with a new time of 10:00 am. The new time allows our worshipers at the 8:30am service to join in the meeting, and the meeting gives us a little more time to discuss our mission and ministry together.

After the 11:00 am worship service, we will have a picnic/potluck on the front lawn. Spring has sprung, We are richly blessed and have much to thank God for.

Serving Christ together,
Pastor Jason Talsness
