Mid-Week Lenten services
Once again we will be doing mid-week services in Lent. They will feature the Holden Evening Prayer musical liturgy, which will be sung in English and Spanish, and skits written around the last seven words of Jesus from the cross. They will be presented bilingually, so as to involve the whole congregation in these services. Each Wednesday in Lent at 7:30 p.m.: March 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, @ 7:30 p.m.
Holy Week and Easter
Holy Week begins a week from Sunday (April 2 nd ) when we celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem with a bilingual service beginning at 11:00AM. We will waive palms, shout for joy, and
process into the sanctuary from our front lawn. Once inside we will hear the story of Jesus’ ride atop a donkey into Jerusalem before a cheering crowd shouting “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”. Our celebration will culminate with Holy Communion and a solemn dismissal.
Semana Santa y Semana Santa
Maundy Thursday
We come together for a bilingual service at 7:30PM Thursday April 6 th to remember Jesus’ final meal with his disciples. In an “upper room” in Jerusalem, Jesus convenes with his disciples to celebrate the Passover meal and commands those with him to eat and drink “in remembrance of me”. Our Maundy Thursday service concludes with the symbolic acts of stripping the sanctuary of all evidence of the resurrection to come.
Good Friday
We gather as a unified congregation at 7:30 Friday April 7 th for the most holy day of “Good Friday”. In a darkened worship space devoid of the symbols of Easter, we gather to remember the final words of Jesus. We will read the passion story of Jesus’ arrest, trial, torture and crucifixion. To accompany the readings we will perform the Tenebrae, or service of shadows, by extinguishing candles, gradually moving from light to darkness. Our service concludes with the sorrowful singing of “Were You There?” Parishioners are left to contemplate the suffering and death of the Son of God, all for our redemption from sin.
Buen viernes

Mystery Worshipper website visits Amazing Grace and gives us a 9 out of 10! Below are a few excerpts, but here is where you can read the full review.
- Was the worship stiff-upper-lip, happy clappy, or what?
- The worship was warm and open, flowing freely from one section to the next.
- Which part of the service was like being in heaven?
- The beautiful eucharist setting by Marty Haugen, flowing freely under the leadership of the pastor, supported by the musicians and the singing and praying of the congregation.
- And which part was like being in... er... the other place?
- To be honest, the service ended too soon. We really enjoyed the worship.
